FAQ

What is a market farm/garden?

A market farm/garden is a small-scale bio-diverse farm that grows on a small area of land -- meaning it grows a variety of vegetables in a condensed area (the opposite of large-scale monoculture!).

What do you grow?

As a market farm, we grow a diversity of wholesome vegetables. Each season, our list adapts and changes based on the previous year's performance and availability of new varieties. The varieties we grow are selected for their exceptional flavour and ability to thrive in organic growing conditions. We have a passion for growing with the goal of supplying our community with as much diversity as possible.

Where do you farm?

We farm in Baden, Ontario on a 1.75 acre plot of land at Sunset Glen Farms, home farm to Vibrant Farms, an organic, grass-fed meat business.

How many people farm on the area of land you lease?

Farmer Mike is the primary grower. We are looking to potentially hire some help this year to help with the overall work at the farm + to give new growers an opportunity to learn.

Farmer Brie is often an extra set of hands for growing, but focusses more on homeschooling the kids, marketing, and customer service.

Our friend, Aliyah, at Lucky Bug Farm also has some bed space on our leased land + in our greenhouse. She leases 1/3 acre here at Sunset Glen Farms as well.

Woah, you grow all that food on two acres? AND Mike does most of the growing himself?

Yes! Mike is very, very passionate about growing and doing it the right way. He wants to make sure the farm + our systems are set-up enough to offer an opportunity for other folks to farm with us as our employees.
